About The Draft

All women are equal, whether they can bear children or cannot, whether they want to have children or do not.

This 7min short film uses the exciting setting of a TV lottery to address the discrimination women experience surrounding the choice of motherhood. How they can become ostracised and scorned by others who question their personal choice.

Based on personal experience from our writer Kim, the story sparks a light on a rarely addressed topic: The verbal, subconscious, hush-hush or straight out discrimination that women face around the choice of motherhood, sometimes even from the people closest to them. As a team of three women, we want to create an open-discussion around the subject.

The short film script has already won the EQUAL short film competition and has been awarded in kind support from Procam and the Farm Group. The short film has won “Best Sci-Fi short” at the London Independent Film Festival 2023, is part of the Official Selection of Sci-Fi London 2023 and will be released on WatchDust in November 2023.
